The Opción Madrid strategy, three years providing comprehensive care

Opción Madrid arose in 2020 as a result of an agreement of the Plenary of the City Council in which the creation of a working group coordinated by the Vice Mayor's Office was approved in which different municipal areas would be involved to carry out, draft and approve a strategy against addictive gambling disorder that included prevention, health care, social support for families and police collaboration, among other matters.

Said strategy is structured around seven axes: the analysis and study of the problem; prevention and awareness of both those under 25 years of age and those over this age; the provision of comprehensive and specialized care; the determination of specific actions in the most vulnerable areas; the control of premises, as well as advertising and dissemination actions, axis in which the virtual assistant, Gon, is integrated.

Throughout the first three years of operation of Opción Madrid (2020-2022) more than 1.500 families have been served (1.160 in addiction care centers, CAD) and 473 in family guidance centers).
