The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Valencian generalitat, through the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC) and with the development of 1millionbot presents the Placido chatbot.

It is an assistant Artificial Intelligence which serves to make known life and work from the Valencian filmmaker Luis Garcia Berlanga (1921-2010) in the framework of the commemorations of the centennial of his birth. This didactic tool is already available for use on the website of the virtual museum Berlanga Film Museum. It is freely accessible and free.

Placido's journey

The assistant has been called Placid as a tribute to the film shot by Berlanga in 1961. In its first phase of development, the Plácido chatbot will respond to a hundred questions about the vital and artistic trajectory of the director of 'Welcome, Mr. Marshall!'. It is a project that will grow with new content.

Plácido's avatar, also developed by 1millionbot, bears an obvious resemblance to the actor Casto Sendra, better known as 'Cassen', characterized for the role of Placido Alonso, protagonist of the Berlanga film. In addition, it has been decided to draw the avatar in black and white to respect the type of photography in which Berlanga shot this tragicomedy.

Plácido's avatar has, however, been given a more youthful look than the original character, because the chatbot is designed to primarily capture the attention of a young audience.

A smart solution

The Plácido chatbot is a project of 1millionbot. We are a company from Alicante specialized in the development of conversational chatbots with Artificial Intelligence technologies. We pay special attention to the areas of education and cultural dissemination.

In addition, this initiative is part of the cultural and cinematographic activities of the Berlanga Year, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, through the IVC.
