Medication administration is a critical task in medical centers, and any mistake can have serious consequences for the patient's health. Fortunately, a new artificial intelligence (AI) technology is helping to prevent medication administration errors.

Chatbots with artificial intelligence are presented as a key tool to help older adults in the complex process of managing their medication. It indicates so a study conducted by experts in geriatrics which evaluated the benefits, barriers and information needs that voice and AI chatbots can offer for older adults.

The study highlights that familiarity with technology is not an insurmountable barrier for older adults between the ages of 65 and 75, who mostly own smartphones, while older adults over the age of 75 may not have been regular users of technology in the first place.

The main needs identified were ease of use, help with reminders, and the provision of information on side effects and instructions for use of medications.

The results of this study suggest that voice chatbots are highly beneficial in improving adherence and overall health in older adults if built to meet diverse medication information needs.

The integration of voice chatbots in hospitals and clinics can, in addition to preventing errors in medication administration, Help medical centers manage their drug inventories more efficiently, as the system can track the amount of drugs in inventory and alert staff when reorders are needed.

The integration of chatbots in the administration of medicines allows to improve the efficiency and safety of the patient in hospitals and clinics. This demonstrates how AI and other technologies can be used to improve healthcare and reduce the risks of medication administration errors.
