Lola, the chatbot of the University of Murcia that answers the doubts of the new students of the UM and the UPCT, developed by 1millionbot.

The University of Murcia has presented Lola, a virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence from Google that resolves the doubts that arise year after year for the new students in college.

The chatbot was launched at the beginning of June, coinciding with the EBAU exams and it has been very well received. have interacted with her 2.350 students, and has answered almost 19.000 questions, despite the fact that they have not had diffusion campaigns.

Lola has responded correctly to 90% of interactions and is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. In addition, the bot has the advantage that it not only answers frequently asked questions, but also is able to learn as he interacts with the students.

The introduction of artificial intelligence in the University Information Service (SIU) is part of an innovation project developed with the Area of ​​Information Technologies and Applied Communications of the University of Murcia (ATICA) and company '1millionbot'.

Together with the Rector of the UMU, in the presentation intervened Andres Pedreño (1millionbot), Andrés Martínez (Google developer relationship manager), and Pedro Miguel Ruiz (Head of Digital University of the UMU).

Access to Lola is available through the SIU website and through the DURM mobile application used by future university students from the single district of the Region of Murcia.

This project has been financed by the network Santander Bank University and it has been developed "tailor-made" to fulfill the function entrusted to it.
