Last Wednesday, March 9, a new follow-up meeting of the Mentor project, focused on combating unwanted loneliness in people over 65 years of age. This face-to-face meeting took place in Joanna Tower OST, headquarters of 1millionbot in Alicante and had the participation of all project partners: Brainstorm Multimedia, Diocesan Caritas of Orihuela-Alicante, AIJU and the own 1millionbot.
Marking the way forward
Throughout the day, work focused on establish the technical characteristics of the social connection platform based on the needs and characteristics of the target population (people over 65 years of age) a project that is financed by the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI). For this, we work jointly, sharing all the knowledge of each of the project participants.
During these first months of work a study of users has been initiated, their profiles and real needs, which they have to face through the MENTOR platform. In the coming months, it will begin to conceptually design the platform, what sections it will have, how they will be connected to each other and how users will be able to use it intuitively.
The Mentor Project
MENTOR focuses its activity on the development of a social connection platform through mentoring programs and social games with the use of a virtual assistant based on Artificial Intelligence that acts as a guide throughout the entire platform, making that trip an effective, efficient and unique experience. The goal of the program is foster training and empowerment of older people improving personal relationships, preventing unwanted loneliness and promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
specifically andl mentoring is to be developed in training spaces where people will act as mentors in topics in which they are experts, favoring personalized learning of different skills among peers and between different generations. As discussed, the use of Virtual Assistant will become, within Mentor, that virtual partner in charge of answering questions, or provide basic information, facilitate the management of the platform and facilitator of connections with other people among other functions.
Mentor also wants encourage communication between different users. For this, spaces for interaction are going to be created where they feel that they are listened to and that they are still important to society. Finally, social and group leisure will be generated in the gaming environment that favors the consolidation of social networks, communication and intergenerational contact.
